His name is Luis Inazio Da Silva. I guess Lula is some sort of nickname. And no, I didn’t check wikipedia nor google.

Yes. I’m from Mexico.
That’s an advantage against European and North American (Mexico excepted), as Brazil has (minimal) influence on Latin American countries, even though regular Brazilians know almost nothing of LA countries, with the exception of their football teams.
