Although I was born in Brazil, my heart (football and everything else) was always Spanish. I saw and suffer with losses to Yugoslavia, France, Italy, Belgium, Korea (what a robbery!!), etc, but today was a day of enjoyment and “good” suffering in the final minutes. Thanks to the Niño and to a wonderful 11 we leave the underachievers banner behind and hope to even better days ahead. See you in South Africa.

As Neil said about his, it is difficult to guess that I am (was?) a biologist.

Repent sinners, beware of the knights of the cult. The “new scientists“.

It’s getting really boring to read all the posts and the ever growing ignorance in them. I bet you will get much better science from the related articles in this post. Or not, who knows.

AC Milan’s player is going to have arthroscopic knee surgery. That’s really strange, because he is a member of the Reborn in Christ Church (Renascer in Portuguese), and usually they perform “cure sessions” on TV to whoever send them money. C’mon Kaká you don’t need those bloody doctors to cure you, just ask around.

Champions League final gets to penalty shots. If the old Corinthian was part of this match the result would be already defined.

From the ESPN live commentary:

How fitting perhaps that the Champions League final between two English sides should end in a pathetic bout of chest-bumping and disrespect. It’s been a big issue all year in England and now it’s two best sides have betrayed the Premier League with their self-indulgent griping and petulance. Crazy.

New poll finds Montreal Canadiens as Canada’s team, more than Toronto Maple Leafs. Ok, next Saturday when the bandwagon suddenly stops, please try not to fall and hurt yourself.

Some questions about the Earth hour (8pm, Saturday March 29th, 2008):

- will the people that take the elevator down one floor turn off the lights?
- will the people that, even with four functional limbs, not carrying anything, and between the ages of 15-50, use the button to open all kinds of doors turn off the lights?
- will the people that leave the lights on in the meeting room after the meeting turn off the lights?
- will the guy/gal on my floor that leave the light on in the chute room turn off the lights?
- will everyone that printed millions of pamphlets, fliers, banners, etc announcing the Earth hour turn off the lights?
- will the guy who decides the fare price of subway/bus/streetcar in Toronto turn off the lights? (Just a comparison: in Toronto a single fare costs CDN$ 2.75, ten fares are CDN$ 22.50. In Madrid, a single fare is one euro and ten trips are 6.70)

I will update whenever a new question pops up.

Sun hired some good Python programmers/advocates/developers/thinkers, Ted Leung and Frank Wierzbicki, of Jython fame. I hope it does no end as Solaris, the movie.

If I had a vote in these polls that decide for the best and (maybe) worst inventions I think these would be mine:

Best: Wheel
Worst: Cellphone
